Broken sweetener
A poem
Broken sweetener tablet Borne of plastic clicker Half cut, ragged edge A white disc that should be thicker The mechanism, not trusted To serve the mug direct anymore Punched into a waiting palm ‘cause I’ve seen halves like this before The portion of an entire tab Hopes for boiling dissolution But I want a proper hit of sweetness Not this half-cut contribution So I punch out another Into my hand, to guarantee A full dose of sugary satisfaction To make a decent cup of tea It seems a shame to waste what’s broken I consider disposal in the sink But what’s a little extra sweetness? Both go in the mug, plink plink B Philippe

This lifts an ordinary everyday moment in to the heavenly spaces where the little things that make up ‘life’ belong. Living in the moment becomes an art form 👏👏👏
A perfectly captured little moment. I love the tiny stories like this that happen in life.
